Laconia, N.H. — Cecil W. Stanley passed away Jan. 23, 2014, at the Belknap County Nursing Home in Laconia, N.H., three days after his 86th birthday, following a period of declining health.

He was born Jan. 20,1928 in St. George to Oscar and Ethel (Wilson) Stanley.

Cecil grew up in St. George and attended schools in St. George. After moving to New Hampshire, he worked for the Scott and Williams Company in Laconia for 25 years. He also worked for the Lakes Region General Hospital for many years beforeretiring.

Cecil married Ruth Huntoon, daughter of Charles and Isabelle Huntoon, in 1950. They were happily married for 54 years, until Ruth’s death in 2004. Cecil enjoyed hunting and other outdoor activities, and spending time vacationing with family inMaine.

Cecil is survived by his son, Norman (Denise) Stanley of Kissimmee, Fla., daughter, Nancy (Eric) Gaumond of Manchester, N.H., and daughter, Norma (Wayne) McLeod, of Melbourne, Australia; his siblings, Frances Thompson of Rockland, Edna Carter,of Thomaston, Vernon Stanley, of Camden, Maurice Stanley, of Texas, and Ann (Raymond) Wallace, of Thomaston; his grandson Sean (Abigail) McCarty, of Tilton, N.H., and other grandchildren, Jason, of Georgia, and Michael, Jennifer, and Sarah ofFlorida; three great-grandchildren, Asher, Tristan, and Colin; and several nieces and nephews.

Per Cecil’s wishes, he will be cremated, with no services held.
